Lottery celebrates 20 years and £10m raised
The Pilgrims Hospices Lottery is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having donated an amazing £10 million to the charity since it started in 1996.
As part of the celebrations, the charity has been signing up lots of supporters across east Kent – with more than 1,000 new members joining the 21,000-strong community in just one month.
Shiralee Riddell, Pilgrims Lottery manager, said: “The hospices took a bold decision back in 1996 to start our own fundraising lottery and today ours is one of the most profitable hospice lotteries in the country thanks to a fantastic team and, most importantly, our generous local community.
“Whether it’s the care taken by our Lottery collectors to talk to everyone they visit, or the selfless people who give us back their winnings because they want to help more than they want to win – every act of kindness makes a difference to those who need our care and support.
“We are so grateful to all our members and we hope by celebrating this special anniversary we can also reach new people to support us so we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our services.”
