Local carp anglers Dave Hill and Andy Goodman took advantage of the warm weather and in a session at Nickolls Lake near Hythe, had a double-figure catch of carp to 32lb, Cinque Ports Club held their open day at Beachbourgh Lakes and despite poor weather, new anglers visited the complex to see what’s on offer. Several junior anglers were given a chance to have a go and some nice fish were banked. I feel the juniors are now hooked for life. The Martin Walters lads were out on their latest night competition at Seabrook and top rod was Jacob Gainey with 12lb 15oz. Andy Gainey (9lb 7oz) was second and Danny Jago (5lb 6oz) third. Dogfish, dabs and pouting made up the catches. Winner of the latest Willing Cup series on the canal was Laurie Webster with 3.090kg. Second was Colin Conroy (2.300kg) while I was third with 2.070kg. The Folkestone sea seniors were out on Princess Parade due to the fact the pier is still closed to them and found it tough going. Saltwood’s John Wells found a few for 2lb and a win, with Ron Laker (1lb 12oz) second and Tom Preston (1lb 5oz) third.
