Getting to know neighbours

-

Kennington residents put the meaning back into ‘community spirit’ by throwing a street party to get to know one another.

Fifty-five guests attended the celebration at Guernsey Way on the Trinity estate.

The event, dubbed “Guernsey Fest”, included a children’s corner, a photo booth, musical chairs and a quiz.

Guests also enjoyed a raffle, barbecue and a spoon and potato race.

The day began being organised in June by Reena Moseley and Natalie Waddington.

Mrs Moseley said: “The aim of this party was to get to know our neighbours.

“We have been passing the same houses, same people on the street for a long time and we decided that it was about time someone brought back some community spirit.

“We printed some invites and sent them off.”

The party was held in the culde-sac’s parking area and neighbours were happy with the idea.

Mrs Moseley continued: “Everyone mingled and had a lovely time.

“We had lovely comments after the party and we can’t wait for the next one.”
