Ab Fab star’s dinner date
Actor Joanna Lumley is heading to Ashford this Saturday.
The Gurkha heroine and campaigner (pictured) will visit the town to support a Kent Gurkha charity doing pioneering work in the UK and Nepal. Ms Lumley will be the guest speaker at a major fundraising dinner at Ashford International Hotel in Simone Weil Avenue. Before that, she will meet hundreds of Gurkha veterans and their families at Ashford School in East Hill.
After the dinner, representatives of the Gurkha community will present Joanna with a special plaque made in Nepal. It features a photograph of her with Tul Badahur Pun, the Gurkha VC winner who saved her father’s life during the Second World War.
In her speech, Joanna will highlight the work of the Gurkha Peace Foundation.
