Ladies beaten in opening game of the campaign

Ashford ladies started their East Women’s League Division 2 South East season with a 2-0 home defeat by East London on Saturday.
The 2nds went down 2-1 against Burnt Ash in Kent Division 1, Becky Thomas scoring before the visitors got a late winner to clinch the points.
Youngster Alfie Miller scored the winner as Ashford men beat Holcombe 2nds 1-0 in a friendly.
The 3rds lost 3-1 at Folkestone, while the 5ths came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.
Junior hockey got underway on Sunday with more than 180 youngsters involved in coaching, inter-club games and fixtures.
