Woman cautioned in supermarket row
A woman arrested on suspicion of assaulting a pensioner inside a supermarket has been given a caution.
Police officers investigated the alleged assault on a man in his 80s at the Asda supermarket in Kimberley Way, Ashford, which took place at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, January 31, but details have only recently emerged.
CCTV from the store was reviewed.
Last Saturday a 34-year-old woman from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of assault but she has since been released without charge, but cautioned. The victim, who asked not to be named, said the incident occurred following a dispute with a family also shopping in the store.
He said: “All I felt was this big shove. I banged my head on the shelf.”
The man went to hospital for a check-up the next day after waking up with a bad headache.
He said: “The staff from Asda were absolutely fantastic.
“I would love to thank one customer, a tall man, who helped me.”
