Tree planting needs helpers
Villagers are being encouraged to join a community tree planting day to reclaim a former sand pit.
The land off Granary Court Road, near Brabourne Lees and Smeeth, is part of a community woodland project where various species are being planted to boost wildlife.
Organiser Chris Rampton said the Woodland Trust has donated 400 trees ready to be planted, and said many hands will make light work.
It follows a similar event last year, and Mr Rampton hopes to make it a regular annual event to allow people to get involved and enjoy the great outdoors.
The tree planting takes place on Saturday, February 25 from 10.30am to 2pm.
