Ska legends to top the bill
What a selection! Ska legends The Selecter have been announced as the headline act for the town’s annual music festival.
The Two-Tone group is famous for hits including Three Minute Hero, Missing Words and On My Radio, and has been secured for the Create Festival in Ashford in July this year.
Original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson still fronts the group alongside a roll call of talented musicians.
Festival organiser Chris Dixon said: “To get such a high profile band to be part of our festival celebration is a real feat and a measure of how far the festival has come over the years.”
This year will be Create’s 22nd year, and will feature more than 40 bands, solo performers, DJs and acts from the area.
Mr Dixon said there is still time for musicians and acts to get involved, with the closing date for entries set for noon next Friday (February 17).
Ashford College has been confirmed as one of the main sponsors of this year’s festival, which is organised and funded by Ashford Borough Council.
Pupils from the new college in Elwick Road will support the main stage and DJ area, with music tech students running the DJ stage.
