Driv­ers have been re­minded that the M20 will be closed for overnight works this week as resur­fac­ing along a 30-mile stretch be­gins.

High­ways Eng­land started work be­tween junc­tions four and six at Maid­stone and be­tween junc­tions seven (Maid­stone) and 13 (Folke­stone) on Mon­day night.

The road will be closed in places up to Sun­day night.

The coast­bound car­riage­way clo­sures be­tween junc­tions four and six at Maid­stone started on Mon­day and will take place be­tween 8pm and 6am un­til Fri­day night. An­other clo­sure will be in place be­tween 8pm and 6am next Sun­day night (April 9).

A di­ver­sion via the A228, M2 and A229 will be in place.

High­ways Eng­land says the work will “im­prove safety”.

The fol­low­ing clo­sures will be in place for the rest of the week:

To­day (Thurs­day) – west­bound en­try slip road at junc­tion 12 (Cheri­ton)

To­mor­row (Fri­day) – east­bound exit slip road at junc­tion 7 (Maid­stone)

Diver­sions will be in place and sign­posted at each junc­tion.
