Teach­ing as­sis­tant’s big ef­fort for needy

Heather Hayes, a higher level teach­ing as­sis­tant at Ten­ter­den’s Home­wood School will take part in Sun­day’s Brighton Marathon for the char­ity UNICEF.

Dis­cov­ery Col­lege pupils at the school chose to back UNICEF af­ter hear­ing about the plight of child sol­diers, who are re­cruited to take part in bat­tles world­wide.

Mrs Hayes has been work­ing with the Year 7 and Year 8 pupils, to­gether with sixth for­m­ers and since last Fe­bru­ary they have raised more than £600 for UNICEF, through var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing cake sales, a tombola and trea­sure hunt.
