Codd sets drive-in record

The drive-in for Littlestone Warren’s three captains was well supported by members on a fine spring day.

The drives of the three all reached the fairway, with men’s captain Anthony Codd beating the all time record.

The Stableford scores reflected the conditions and the top seven performers all scored better than the standard scratch and received reductions in their handicaps.

In first place was Kevin Carr (h19) with 45 points, followed by Barbara Down (h14) with 43 points.

Toni Ovenden (h23) was third with 42 points, continuing her recent fine form.

This event was a good start to this year’s designated charity, the British Heart Foundation. Ovenden won the Cecil Leitch Five Club Competition and will represent Littlestone Warren at the county final in late June.

It will be something of a family day out for Toni, as husband Andy won the Cecil Leitch as a member of the Artisans section of Littlestone Golf Club and will be playing at the same event, in the men’s competition.

From left, David Bynorth (captain of the vets), Shell Foster (lady captain) and Anthony Codd (men’s captain)
