Angling

-

If your thing is sea angling, then do not miss the plaice bonanza from our beaches right down to Eastbourne. Be sure to put plenty of bright beads and attractors on your snoods as plaice love a bit of bling, with lugworm, ragworm and sandeels as bait. Please take only what you need and return any you don’t. This way we can, in a small way, try to assure the next generation of anglers have the same sport as us. I was down the beach at Hythe recently and think the dreaded ‘May water’ could happen this year in April! This algal bloom is the kiss of death for the shore angler and hangs from your line in strings. It is a natural phenomenon and thankfully lasts only a short while. The odd mackerel is showing from Dover’s Admiralty Pier and this is more proof of our warming sea.
