Fenc­ing blaze dam­ages home

Fire­fight­ers are try­ing to find the cause of a fire which dam­aged a house on Satur­day night. Crews were sent to Char­ing Heath, near Ash­ford, af­ter fenc­ing caught alight in the vil­lage. The flames spread to the out­side of the bun­ga­low caus­ing dam­age to the prop­erty in Wind Hill at around 12.30am. The fire ser­vice said eight me­tres of fenc­ing was de­stroyed while fa­cias and sof­fits on the build­ing were also dam­aged. No in­juries were re­ported and the cause of the blaze is still un­known. Two fire en­gines were sent to the scene with crews wear­ing breath­ing ap­pa­ra­tus and us­ing a hose to tackle the fire. They were at the scene for al­most an hour. Fire­fight­ers then used a ven­ti­la­tion van to clear smoke from the prop­erty.
