A man from Ash­ford has been sent to jail af­ter driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and with­out in­sur­ance in the town.

Richard Michael Read was sen­tenced on Thurs­day, April 6, at Thanet Mag­is­trates’ Court, af­ter plead­ing guilty to driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and driv­ing with­out in­sur­ance.

He pleaded not guilty to an­other count of driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and an­other count of driv­ing with­out in­sur­ance but was con­victed of the of­fences by mag­is­trates.

On Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 20, the 29-year-old, of Riverview, Ash­ford, drove a Ford KA in Lea­con Road, Ash­ford, while dis­qual­i­fied and with no in­sur­ance.

On Satur­day, March 4, he drove a Citroen Xsara Pi­casso in Riverview, Ash­ford, while dis­qual­i­fied and with no in­sur­ance.

Mag­is­trates sen­tenced Read to 150 days in prison and banned him from driv­ing for 36 months. He must also pay a £115 vic­tim sur­charge.
