Play with clay at artist’s work­shop

The next in a se­ries of art work­shops tak­ing place at God­in­ton House, near Ash­ford, will fo­cus on sculpt­ing in clay.

It is be­ing led by artist Brenda Burgess and is a taster morn­ing for those in­ter­ested in try­ing out cre­at­ing art­work in this medium.

For the last 25 years Brenda has worked with stu­dents of all ages and abil­i­ties pro­vid­ing a sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment in which to ex­plore their tal­ents.

Born on Mersey­side in 1961, she stud­ied at Kent In­sti­tute of Art and Design and Christ Church Univer­sity, Can­ter­bury.

Af­ter grad­u­at­ing, she took up the post of sculp­tor-in-res­i­dence at the Mu­seum of Kent Life, San­dling, where she pro­duced paint­ings and por­trait sculp­tures while pro­vid­ing her ed­u­ca­tional work­shop ser­vice to vis­it­ing schools.

She also worked at Leeds Cas­tle, as their res­i­dent artist/ed­uca- tor pro­vid­ing a range of arts­based work­shops to vis­it­ing schools.

The work­shop – on Wed­nes­day, April 26 – starts at 10.30am with cof­fee, be­fore the clay sculpt­ing gets un­der way.

She will also lead fu­ture work­shops on Tues­day, June 6; Tues­day, Septem­ber 26 and Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 15.
