Windmill Inn won the Ashford Winter Five-A-Side League title – without kicking a ball. They and rivals DNA both had their sights set on the prize, only to suffer contrasting fortunes in the final round of matches at the Stour Centre last Wednesday. Windmill’s opponents Spartans failed to field a team, handing them the points, two goals and a walkover, while DNA missed out, losing to Nivea Men, only their second defeat in 22 matches. McDonalds finished third and Lolzors fourth, following a surprise defeat against Libyans. The league were due to stage their cup finals night last night (Wednesday). Kentish Express sports writer Andrew Gidley will be a guest at the annual awards presentation night on Wednesday. The evening takes place at the Albion Function Room in Albion Place, South Willesborough, starting at 7.30pm.
