Fes­ti­val plea for mu­si­cal per­form­ers

A new mul­ti­cul­tural fes­ti­val com­ing to Ash­ford this sum­mer is look­ing for school per­form­ing groups and choirs to show the pub­lic what they can do.

Equa­tor, the pro­mo­tional branch of ShivaNova mu­sic com­pany, which pro­motes and tours in­ter­na­tional per­form­ers at events in Lon­don and Kent, has se­cured a grant from the Big Lot­tery Fund to launch the new fes­ti­val in part­ner­ship with the an­nual Fes­ti­val in the Park event.

The free fes­ti­val will take place in North Park, near the Stour Cen­tre in Tan­nery Lane, over the week­end of July 7-9.

Or­gan­is­ers are on the hunt for com­mu­nity groups, youth groups and lo­cal artists to per­form at the fes­ti­val.

The week­end will fea­ture ap­pear­ances and work­shops from some of Equa­tor’s artists from across the globe.

There will also be a food tent demon­strat­ing cui­sine from Choirs are needed for a new mul­ti­cul­tural fes­ti­val around the world.

The Many Cul­tures in a Tent mu­sic pro­gramme is cur­rently be­ing fi­nalised. Vol­un­teers are needed to help run the fes­ti­val.

In a state­ment ShivaNova/ Equa­tor said: “We are now look­ing for school groups, school choirs aqnd youth en­sem­bles and per­form­ing groups, and lo­cal artists to per­form and cel­e­brate with us.”

Two miles – start­ing at 2pm from the old light­house, Dun­geness: White Cliffs Coun­try­side Part­ner­ship. 3.5 miles – start­ing at 10.30am from Bridge recre­ation ground: Dover & Thanet Rights of Way So­ci­ety. Six miles – start­ing at 10am from Chal­lock vil­lage hall: White Cliffs Ram­blers. 8.5 miles – start­ing at 10am from Sand­wich Guild­hall: White Cliffs Ram­blers. 10-11 miles – start­ing at 10am from El­ham Square, lunch stop in Stelling Min­nis: East Kent Ram­bling Club. WED­NES­DAY (May 10) Five miles – start­ing at 10.30am from East Cliff Pav­il­ion, Folke­stone: East Kewnt Ram­bling Club. 12 miles – start­ing at 10am from near the pub in the cen­tre of Dod­ding­ton (near Sit­ting­bourne), lunch stop at Char­ing Hill: East Kent Ram­bling Club.
