Suspect arrested at rugby club

Police were called to a sports club to arrest a suspected criminal, wanted in connection with several crimes. Officers went to Ashford Rugby Club at around 3.55pm on Sunday following a sighting of a man wanted in connection with a number of offences. Police confirmed that they had not previously issued an appeal in relation to the man. The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of a knife and assault. He was held in custody on Monday but has now been released pending further inquiries.
