Du Plooy’s effort proves in vain
Tenterden
Leus du Plooy continued his fine form on Saturday but couldn’t inspire Tenterden to victory at Sevenoaks Vine.
Du Plooy hit five fours on his way to 62 in the Premier Division match – the fourth time he’s made 50 or more in seven Premier Division innings this summer.
He’s now scored 400 runs at an average of 66.67 and is ranked fourth in the batting charts across all 12 divisions.
However, only one of du Plooy’s team-mates passed 20 at The Vine, where Tenterden were bowled out for 187.
Sevenoaks then eased to a seven-wicket win with more than four overs to spare, thanks largely to an unbeaten 80 from Harrison Smyth.
Tenterden are sixth in the table with 74 points from seven matches ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Lordswood, who are one place and two points below them.
The clubs also met at 2nd XI level, with Tenterden beating Sevenoaks by 52 runs.
Tenterden made 234-8 in their 50 overs, captain Tim Russell and Tevis Knight both scoring 36, before they dismissed the Vine for 182.
Alistair Burge, who took 3-37 from seven overs, was the pick of the home bowlers.
