From pizzas to a parlour for desserts
Workers have begun converting a former town centre pizza restaurant into a dessert parlour.
A planning application was submitted for the popular sweet treat chain Kaspa’s Desserts to take on the site of the former Pizza Hut restaurant at the bottom of the Lower High Street in Ashford. The site has been empty since Pizza Hut moved out in early 2013, and had been the subject of rumours that it would become a motoring-themed cafe and bar.
Kaspa’s is a fast-expanding chain of dessert parlours offering a menu including sundaes such as knickerbocker glory and mango mania, waffles and crepes, and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and hot apple crumble.
The company previously opened in Canterbury, and has opened at Westwood Cross in Thanet in March. More parlours are planned in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Dover.
The move follows the opening of rival Just Desserts in Bank Street last summer.
