High Street is doing well

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Town Centre Changes -

Cllr Graham Galpin, ABC portfolio holder for corporate property, said: “The unit at 1-3 High Street has been empty for some time and so the fact it will be filled by Kaspa’s, a popular dessert chain, is very pleasing.

“Poundland were equivocal in a recent conversation with ABC regarding their plans, but they confirmed their commitment to Ashford.

“Retailers will come and go, this is nature of the national retail and leisure economy. It also confirms that in Ashford, the town centre is performing well, with our vacancy rate the lowest it has ever been, and below the national average.

“The suggestion that Poundland expect to service Ashford residents from much larger premises is another example of how strong our High Street is.”
