Welsh visitors win netball tournament
Several school netball teams took part in a special netball tournament.
Hosted over two days, one day each at Godinton Primary and Tenterden Junior School, the tournament was hosted in honour of a Welsh netball team, from Gwenfo Primary School, who made the long trip to Kent specially for the event.
The tournament was organised by Nick Leggat, deputy head teacher at Tenterden Juniors, who has taken his school team to Wales for a tournament every year since 2009. However this year it was decided that it was time for one of the Welsh teams to pay a visit.
On Monday, June 26 the Welsh team were playing at Godinton where they also played against teams from Kingsnorth, Kennington and Willesborough Primary Schools.
Then on Tuesday, June 27 the Gwenfo pupils headed over to Tenterden where they also Gwenfo playing Godinton A (in bibs) played against Tenterden Juniors and teams from Furley Park, Sellindge and Egerton primaries.
Gwenfo’s team turned out to be the overall winners of the tournament.
Lisa Crowfoot, head of upper school at Godinton Primary, said: “The tournament was a huge success.
“They were high quality games that were being played and each player was very sportsmanlike and fair. It was a very good atmosphere.”
