Welsh visi­tors win net­ball tour­na­ment

Sev­eral school net­ball teams took part in a spe­cial net­ball tour­na­ment.

Hosted over two days, one day each at God­in­ton Pri­mary and Ten­ter­den Ju­nior School, the tour­na­ment was hosted in hon­our of a Welsh net­ball team, from Gwenfo Pri­mary School, who made the long trip to Kent spe­cially for the event.

The tour­na­ment was or­gan­ised by Nick Leg­gat, deputy head teacher at Ten­ter­den Ju­niors, who has taken his school team to Wales for a tour­na­ment ev­ery year since 2009. How­ever this year it was de­cided that it was time for one of the Welsh teams to pay a visit.

On Mon­day, June 26 the Welsh team were play­ing at God­in­ton where they also played against teams from Kingsnorth, Ken­ning­ton and Willes­bor­ough Pri­mary Schools.

Then on Tues­day, June 27 the Gwenfo pupils headed over to Ten­ter­den where they also Gwenfo play­ing God­in­ton A (in bibs) played against Ten­ter­den Ju­niors and teams from Fur­ley Park, Sellindge and Eger­ton pri­maries.

Gwenfo’s team turned out to be the over­all win­ners of the tour­na­ment.

Lisa Crow­foot, head of up­per school at God­in­ton Pri­mary, said: “The tour­na­ment was a huge suc­cess.

“They were high qual­ity games that were be­ing played and each player was very sports­man­like and fair. It was a very good at­mos­phere.”
