Finding out about the world of work
Careers were on the timetable for students at Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre.
Employers visited the Ashford Road school to talk to sixth-formers about the opportunities open to them in the world of work.
Speakers came from a variety of industries including construction and engineering and Liz Thorne, chief executive of Tenterden and District Day Centre, addressed students on healthcare.
Charli Luke, manager of the Little Silver Hotel in St Michael’s, spoke of opportunities in the hospitality industry. Careers in graphic design and financial services were also covered in the seminar.
It was arranged by Homewood’s careers co-ordinator Caroline Courtland-Smith, who said: “The delegates talked about the wide ranging pathways into various careers and it enabled networking opportunities for the businesses involved, the school and sixth-form students regarding work placements, apprenticeships and further opportunities.”
