Stro­vers strive for good cause

A fam­ily from Mer­sham will com­plete a six-month-long walk­ing chal­lenge in aid of a wildlife char­ity this week­end.

The Stro­ver fam­ily have been walk­ing the en­tire North Downs Way from Farn­ham, Sur­rey to Dover since Jan­uary and have so far clocked up 175 miles.

The team, made up of dad An­drew, mum Philippa, and daugh­ters Felic­ity, 14, Gaby, 13, Izzy, 10, and Darcey the dog , will com­plete the walk on Sun­day with a walk from Capel to Dover.

The fam­ily are rais­ing funds for WWF and have walked in bliz­zards as well as scorch­ing sun­shine to com­plete the walk over 20 week­ends with walks be­tween The Stro­ver fam­ily have been rais­ing money walk­ing for the WWF five and 15 miles in length.

Philippa Stro­ver said: “In­stead of a New Year’s res­o­lu­tion, I chal­lenged the fam­ily to walk the en­tire North Downs Way from Farn­ham in Sur­rey to Dover.

“We stayed in Sur­rey to com­plete 25 miles of the route and vis­ited the WWF head­quar­ters in Wok­ing whilst there.

“Their work is es­sen­tial in con­serv­ing our planet and its amaz­ing wildlife for fu­ture gen­er­a­tions, so we thought we could give our walk a pur­pose, other than our own plea­sure.”

The fam­ily hope to raise £500 for WWF.
