Deep hole opens up in paving
A deep hole opened up in Ashford town centre earlier this week.
The crater in North Street is believed to have appeared on Monday morning.
The hole is on a cobbled pedestrian path in the town centre and gaps in the paving show a deep hole beneath the surface.
The brickwork appears to have caved in on itself, but the cause is not known.
Kent County Council’s Highways team coned off the area on Monday as a safety precaution and are sending workmen to make it safe as a maintenance priority.
The Highways team advise members of the public to report incidents such as these on their website at www.kent.gov.uk
