Motorway shuts as fire breaks out

A section of the M20 coastbound was closed on Monday afternoon after a van went up in flames.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm between junction 8 for Leeds and junction 9 for Ashford.

Traffic was briefly held just past the junction 8 slip road and two fire engines attended to tackle the blaze.

Thick black smoke could be seen for miles.

The incident caused long delays for motorists.
