Relay teams battle to the end
Ashford & District Road Running Club’s senior men’s and women’s A teams both finished runners-up in the East Kent Inter-Club relays.
The final legs took place with A&DRCC pipped to both titles by rivals Folkestone.
Robert Latala ran Ashford’s fastest leg on the final night in a time of 11.35 over the 2.3-mile course at Canterbury, Folkestone winning the final leg to clinch overall victory.
Other highlights on a good night for the club were wins for the juniors, senior ladies’ B and men’s Vet40 B and Vet50 B teams.
Trevor Kay finished fourth in the Romney Marsh 10k on Sunday. The runners faced hot conditions, with Kay home in 37.25.
Kevan James was next home (41.51) in 15th place, with fellow MV50 man Adrian Moody (44.19) 24th.
Claire Green was 70th (52.46) and Jaclyn Kay 86th (55.39).
Stu Nunn also experienced similar high temperatures, running along the coast in the Herne Bay 10k.
He finished 101st and 39th in the MV40 category, out of a field of more than 400.
