Relay teams bat­tle to the end

Ash­ford & District Road Run­ning Club’s se­nior men’s and women’s A teams both fin­ished run­ners-up in the East Kent In­ter-Club re­lays.

The fi­nal legs took place with A&DRCC pipped to both ti­tles by ri­vals Folke­stone.

Robert Latala ran Ash­ford’s fastest leg on the fi­nal night in a time of 11.35 over the 2.3-mile course at Can­ter­bury, Folke­stone win­ning the fi­nal leg to clinch over­all vic­tory.

Other high­lights on a good night for the club were wins for the ju­niors, se­nior ladies’ B and men’s Vet40 B and Vet50 B teams.

Trevor Kay fin­ished fourth in the Rom­ney Marsh 10k on Sun­day. The run­ners faced hot con­di­tions, with Kay home in 37.25.

Ke­van James was next home (41.51) in 15th place, with fel­low MV50 man Adrian Moody (44.19) 24th.

Claire Green was 70th (52.46) and Ja­clyn Kay 86th (55.39).

Stu Nunn also ex­pe­ri­enced sim­i­lar high tem­per­a­tures, run­ning along the coast in the Herne Bay 10k.

He fin­ished 101st and 39th in the MV40 cat­e­gory, out of a field of more than 400.
