If you would like to try for a truly ‘wild’ carp this summer, it may be worth a trip to the River Brede on the Kent/Sussex border. This lovely little river is controlled by the Clive Vale Angling Club and as you can see from the photograph, above, there are some great fish to be caught. This 18lb common carp fell to Tony Baker Freeman and had probably never seen an angler’s hook before. Down at the Deal complex, Lake Pepper is in good form with Lee Moulton landing a superb 33lb mirror carp. Meanwhile, Deal 1919 club are holding a junior open on the local pier and every angler will get a prize. The match on August 20 will be fished from 11am to 3pm and could throw up some nice fish.
