Su­per­mar­ket thief jailed

A thief has been jailed af­ter steal­ing booze and wash­ing pow­der from su­per­mar­kets in Ashford and Can­ter­bury.

Jamie San­ter, of Cryol Road in South Ashford, ap­peared be­fore Folke­stone mag­is­trates, where he ad­mit­ted four thefts.

Over two days in June, the 34-year-old went to Asda in Ashford and took whisky, cider and two bot­tles of co­gnac worth £55.

Then in early July he went into the McColl’s shop in Stanhope Road and took wine and wash­ing pow­der worth £28.

Fi­nally, on Tues­day last week, he stole whisky, cham­pagne, vodka, co­gnac and wash­ing pow­der worth £250 from Sains­bury’s in Can­ter­bury.

He was jailed for 18 weeks and must pay £115 for a vic­tim sur­charge.
