Slip roads would make junction safer

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - News -

At last the 40mph full-time speed limit on the A20 dual carriageway is going to phased out and only come into force when there is stationary traffic on the A20.

This has come about because so many people complained, even the local MP, that such a low continuous limit was unnecessary. So where are they going to park the speed camera van now?

Ah yes, when they downgrade the 70mph speed limit to 40mph on the A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road dual carriageway in Ashford! Who in their right mind would design 90-degree turns on/off a 70mph dual carriageway, when much safer slip roads could so easily be built?

To make the best of a bad job, could they put in slip roads and those wishing to turn right into the retail park have to go down to the next roundabout and come back on themselves. When junction 10a is built, it would require little effort to combine a new roundabout with a new purpose-built entrance to the retail park.

Perhaps this time they could get it right! Terry Hudson Alliance of British Drivers
