Guided walks to get people out and about
Free guided walks and a cycle ride are taking place in Ashford this month and next as part of a Naturally Active For Life programme.
The Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership’s (KSCP) scheme is being funded by Kent Sport – part of Kent County Council – and is aimed at people who would like to take more outdoor exercise.
KSCP’s Martin Thomas said: “Plenty of people are advised to exercise for health reasons but it’s not always easy to know where or how to do this.
“We’re aiming to give local people a stress-free introduction to walking and cycling.
“Along the way you can get to know new people and learn about the history and wildlife of the area.
“As well as learning about walking routes and groups, we will promote our conservation volunteering activities which are also good for keeping fit and healthy.”
The walks begin in or near the town centre and venture out along different sections of the River Stour.
Each walk lasts approximately two hours.
The programme i ncludes three walks and a bike ride in Ashford.
