Nelmes and Dixon triumphant
Tenterden Bowls Club played the finals in their club competitions at the weekend. The Men’s Championship went to Malcolm Nelmes who won 21-6 against Don Walker. The Ladies’ Championship was won by Elaine Dixon who edged out Judith Pickford 21-20 in a close final. In the Mermaid League, Tenterden lost away to Northiam 50-37, in a rain restricted game. Tenterden’s winning rink were Ann Walker, Ray Walker and skip Andrea Crosser, who won 14-11. Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, Tenterden enjoyed playing the Parkinson Group in a friendly game.
Hamstreet held their finals at the weekend, with Dave Raggett coming out on tops, winning four. Dick Baldwin and Gwen Colley claimed two each and David Duke one. Dave Raggett and Helene Ford won the mixed pairs in what was a good weekend of fine bowling. Hamstreet won at home against Winchelsea 84-46. The highest winning rink won 27-9, skipped by D Baldwin with T Perry and G Colley.
Ashford Rail played Wear Bay away on Saturday in five mixed triples, winning 100-66. The highest-winning rink were Tony Playford, Terry Sykes and Belinda Williams 36-7. On Sunday, Rail beat a strong St Lawrence (Ramsgate) side at home in six mixed triples 101-99. The highest winning rink were Callum Fraser, Gary Owen and skip Tony Mapstone 28-7.
