Nelmes and Dixon tri­umphant

Ten­ter­den Bowls Club played the fi­nals in their club com­pe­ti­tions at the week­end. The Men’s Cham­pi­onship went to Mal­colm Nelmes who won 21-6 against Don Walker. The Ladies’ Cham­pi­onship was won by Elaine Dixon who edged out Ju­dith Pick­ford 21-20 in a close fi­nal. In the Mer­maid League, Ten­ter­den lost away to Nor­thiam 50-37, in a rain re­stricted game. Ten­ter­den’s win­ning rink were Ann Walker, Ray Walker and skip An­drea Crosser, who won 14-11. Mean­while, on Mon­day af­ter­noon, Ten­ter­den en­joyed play­ing the Parkin­son Group in a friendly game.

Ham­street held their fi­nals at the week­end, with Dave Raggett com­ing out on tops, win­ning four. Dick Bald­win and Gwen Col­ley claimed two each and David Duke one. Dave Raggett and He­lene Ford won the mixed pairs in what was a good week­end of fine bowl­ing. Ham­street won at home against Winchelsea 84-46. The high­est win­ning rink won 27-9, skipped by D Bald­win with T Perry and G Col­ley.

Ash­ford Rail played Wear Bay away on Satur­day in five mixed triples, win­ning 100-66. The high­est-win­ning rink were Tony Play­ford, Terry Sykes and Belinda Wil­liams 36-7. On Sun­day, Rail beat a strong St Lawrence (Rams­gate) side at home in six mixed triples 101-99. The high­est win­ning rink were Cal­lum Fraser, Gary Owen and skip Tony Map­stone 28-7.
