Other developments already in the pipeline

-

The 650-home East Mountain Lane scheme is just one of many developments proposed in Kennington, which add up to almost 1,700 homes.

Last year, Boughton Aluph and Eastwell councillor Winston Michael feared the area could be the next Chilmington Green after plans to build 700 houses opposite the Little Burton estate were revealed.

The site off Willesborough Road – dubbed Big Burton – has been earmarked in Ashford Borough Council’s draft Local Plan for homes to be built by 2030.

On the other side of the railway line, developers already have outline permission for 300 properties at Conningbrook Lakes next to the Julie Rose Stadium.

Elsewhere, the Croft Hotel in Canterbury Road is set to be demolished to make way for nine homes after outline permission was gained. Land off the nearby Orchard Lane is also set for development, with outline permission in place for 25 houses. Across the A28, outline permission has also been gained for nine homes on pitches at Ashford Hockey Club off Ball Lane.
