Con­ning­brook Lakes Sail­ing have be­come the lat­est club to be part of the RYA On­Board sail­ing pro­gramme. This fol­lows the club be­ing recog­nised as an RYA Train­ing Cen­tre last year. The club, at Con­ning­brook Coun­try Park in Ash­ford, en­cour­ages lo­cal par­tic­i­pa­tion in sail­ing for res­i­dents of all ages. On­Board is a grass roots pro­gramme which seeks to make sail­ing eas­ier for young peo­ple to get into. Dinghy sail­ing chief in­struc­tor Danielle Ju­den said: “We’re pleased to gain RYA recog­ni­tion as an On­Board cen­tre. “Cur­rently we have about four after sail­ing ses­sions with chil­dren from lo­cal schools in­volved in On­Board ses­sions and have been ap­proached for fur­ther ses­sions from other youth groups.” Con­ning­brook Lakes Sail­ing of­fers RYA ap­proved cour­ses for chil­dren aged eight up­wards, youth and adults in dinghy sail­ing, as well as power­boat cour­ses for those who would like to help with the safety boat.
