WI puts heart into campaign
Orlestone WI is planning to fill Hamstreet village with green hearts. It is part of a campaign by the national WI movement to raise awareness of climate change and the issues surrounding it. To raise awareness in the village, green hearts are being placed all over and there will be an activity afternoon in Hamstreet’s Victory Hall on Thursday, February 8, between 2pm and 5pm. People can knit, sew, decorate cakes, sow seeds, glue or paste and, eat cake. There will also be talks and demonstrations to show small ways to help combat climate change. Anyone is welcome to make their own hearts and hang them either at their house or in the public spaces in the village before they are all taken down on February 14.
