Ath­lete Zeeks in­spires his young fans

Pupils at Brook Com­mu­nity Pri­mary School near Wye were de­lighted to meet an in­ter­na­tional ath­lete last Fri­day.

Ezekiel Ewulo, known as Zeeks, is an in­door long jump cham­pion who vis­ited the school as part of Sports for Cham­pi­ons, a schemes that brings pro­fes­sional ath­letes into schools with the pur­pose of mo­ti­vat­ing young peo­ple and inspiring the fu­ture gen­er­a­tion of cham­pi­ons.

While he was at the school, Zeeks gave a pre­sen­ta­tion be­fore lead­ing a fit­ness cir­cuit with the chil­dren.

Head teacher Chris Green, said ath­lete’s visit had been a hit with pupils.

He said: “Zeeks came in dur­ing the af­ter­noon and led a fit­ness cir­cuit for the chil­dren and spoke to the chil­dren dur­ing assem­bly.

“He spoke about his ex­pe­ri­ences in events and had two medals to show the chil­dren.

“Zeeks spoke about eat­ing healthily and that with hard work you can achieve any­thing you set your mind to.

“It was a fun af­ter­noon, the chil­dren were in awe of Zeeks.

“It was an inspiring af­ter­noon and I hope we have raised our chil­dren’s ex­pec­ta­tions of what they can achieve if they aim high.”
