New home for abandoned Johnny

On a happier note, an abandoned horse that was taken in by the Retreat Animal Rescue, in High Halden, two years ago has been rehomed.

In 2016, three foals – known by the Retreat as JLS – were found abandoned in the car park of the Ashford John Lewis at Home store. They were believed to have been six months old.

They were taken in by the animal sanctuary to be cared for until they were back in good health and found permanent homes. One of the trio, Johnny, was picked up by his new owners last week.

Fredericka Durham from the Retreat said: “It was pouring down with rain on the day his new owners came, but even so days like that are so worth it.

“When we picked him up he was this scared little foal.

“The team have worked so hard for the past two years because these animals are broken so we have to put them back together again.

“Even though it’s sad to see him go, we’re just happy he’s got a new home.”

Johnny now has a new home
