A landowner has applied for permission to allow its site to be used as a lorry park and turnaround point for two more years.

Robert Brett and Sons Ltd first set up the lorry park in April 2015.

The site, near Matalan off Leacon Road, allows drivers to swap trailers and also provides basic facilities such as showers.

At the time, the company said: “The site is being used on a temporary basis by a local business, while more permanent premises are sought.

“The use is an essential part of the transport of goods between the UK and the continent and as such it is a key contributor to the wider economy.”

Now the firm has applied to continue using the site for a further two years. To view the plans online visit www.ashford. gov.uk and search for planning reference 18/00088/AS.
