Year 6 pupils at Ashford School took part in a special activity day.

The event on Saturday, January 27 was led by the school’s staff instructor, WO1 Simon Burke.

The day was created to give children an experience of adventure and excitement and included an indoor assault course, camouflage and concealment as well as fire craft and outdoor cooking.

Ashford School has a strapline of Adventurous Learning and the focus of school life is on challeng- ing pupils to step out of their comfort zones and brave new experiences.

Mr Burke said: “The aim was to give the children a fun day, but with the underlying emphasis on t eamwork. We were very impressed with their attitude and the decisions made by the commanders.”

Pupil Zohha Lanker said: “I was so excited for the day, but quite nervous about what we were going to do. Everyone was so enthusiastic so it was easy to enjoy it. I loved every second.”
