Training pays off with nine PBs
Ashford AC athletes were out in force for the 10k at the weekend.
The cold and slippery conditions were particularly challenging,with the runners up against sleet and strong winds.
However, the club have been training hard over the winter targeting this race and their preparation paid off with nine of the 10 athletes achieving personal bests.
Of the 567 finishers, Ashford AC had seven athletes in the top 25.
The team were led by Marshall Smith (under-20) who finished an impressive Ashford AC runners at the Ashford 10k sixth overall (33min 34sec) in a strong field made up of all age groups.
Gerard O’Sullivan who finished 21st overall (38.05) was first in the over-50s veterans category.
Ashford also fielded a five-strong team of under 17-year-old athletes for the gruelling race.
