Takeaway delivery in the tunnel

-

A new ‘in car’ delivery service has been launched by staff at Eurotunnel to help holidaymakers travel from home to holiday without leaving their vehicle.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle has now re-opened its UK passenger terminal building in Folkestone.

And to aid socially distanced travel even further, a new food and drink to go service has been developed, enabling customers to pre-order refreshments to be delivered directly to their car.

To start with there will be a restricted Starbucks menu consisting of a range of drinks, snacks and sandwiches as well as basic groceries such as eggs, milk, bread and hand sanitiser.

More choices are expected to become available soon.

Deborah Merrens, chief commercial officer, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle said: “We carried out some research recently which revealed that nearly 70% of UK consumers are actively looking for ways to avoid travelling in close proximity to strangers.

“We are using technology to provide innovative ways to heighten health and safety. This unique ‘in car’ delivery service allows passengers to stock up on essentials and buy a snack or drink for the journey, without stepping out of their car.”

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle is operating up to four services an hour from Folkestone to Calais.
