Un­cer­tainty is mak­ing the mar­ket ner­vous

One big ques­tion is tax­ing the land and new homes in­dus­try at the moment: Where do we go from here? The mar­ket is still frag­ile. Sales of new homes have held steady in the first part of this year but are cer­tainly not grow­ing at the same en­cour­ag­ing rate wit­nessed in the last three quar­ters of 2009. The rea­son is that the mar­ket is ner­vous. The new Govern­ment an­nounced in the re­cent Queen’s Speech that it is propos­ing to in­tro­duce a Lo­cal­ism Bill which will give more pow­ers to lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties and other changes are likely to fil­ter through as the new govern­ment set­tles in. For ex­am­ple, it has al­ready been an­nounced there is to be an end to the des­ig­na­tion of gar­dens as brown­field land, which in my opin­ion
