New home just at the right time

For Charlotte and Darren Wadey, a home on a new housing development came along at just the right time.

The couple and their two young daughters, Chloe,10, and Jessica, three, had been happily renting a home at Allington, Maidstone, for 10 years and were all settled in jobs and schools, when their landlord served them notice to leave.

They used the Help to Buy 5% deposit scheme at The Orchards development in Allington and are now enjoying life as homeowners.

Charlotte, 36, said: “Chloe had already been at school for a year when we were given notice by our landlord. We were obviously devastated because we were living in the ideal location.

“I’m a nurse at a local hospital and Darren works nearby, so our first priority was to stay in the area.

“We wanted to provide stability for our girls, so no one could take our home away again.

“At The Orchards, we were able to upgrade to a three-bedroom home, where our last house only had two.”

The Orchards, by Barratt Homes, has three, four and five-bedroom family homes, priced from £339,995.
