See castle’s floral fringe

Floral festivitie­s at Leeds Castle to mark Chelsea Fringe, the fringe to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, include turning the gardening world inside out and creating miniature gardens in a shed.

Peek through the entrance to see a mini-replica of the castle’s Woodland Walk, the Lady Baillie Mediterran­ean Garden and the Culpeper Garden, a classic cottage garden. And look out for the miniature maze made of cress (but please don’t eat it).

Along with informatio­n about some of the castle plants, there’s also a guide that tells you where you can see them “full size”.

Other horticultu­ral happenings include until Wednesday, May

31, during the Chelsea Fringe Festival, the gardening team giving specialist talks on the gardens’ history and their upkeep, as well as tips on looking after your own garden.

The fringe runs until Sunday, June 4 at the castle. Entry is included in the normal admission price of £24.90 and £16.90 for children, which lasts for a year. Book online at leeds-castle.com
