The Barrow House in Egerton recently celebrated its first birthday and, as its pizza oven goes under wraps for winter, managers have launched a Winter Take Out offer.

Run by the same team behind the Milk House in Sissinghurst and recently awarded a Michelin accreditation, it will be offering homemade burgers and fish and chips to take away seven days a week, between noon and 8pm. Flyers dropped around neighbouring villages will also win 500 people 10% off their first order.

Dane Allchorne, owner and executive head chef, said: “We realise that in the winter sometimes curling up on the sofa is good for the soul, homemade burgers and fresh fish and chips from the comfort of your own home taste even better – and the real bonus is there is no washing-up.” Previously known as the George, the inn was originally built in 1576 and has been refurbished, offering quick snacks, a light lunch or dinner and local beers, cask ales and a wide selection of wines.
