Kentish Express Ashford & District - What's On

Calling all Midwife fans

-

It’s a familiar sight to viewers who tune in to the BBC’S Call the Midwife series - and now you can step into the East London streets around Nonnatus House as the Historic Dockyard Chatham launches its tours again for the year.

The dockyard has been a regular filming location for the series for some years. Now in its seventh year, it attracts more than 10 million viewers. The behind the scenes tours, which run from Saturday, April 7 to Sunday, October 28, in partnership with Neal Street Productions, have been re-worked and overseen by the show’s producers and will feature material from the latest series, as well as props, costumes, set and a costumed midwife. The 90 minute walking tour does have some uneven surfaces, so visitors need suitable footwear and is wheelchair friendly, but organisers need to know at the point of booking. Tours cost £25 and £21 for children. They must be pre-booked. For details call 01634 823812.
