What a catch! And another! And 13,648 more!

-

A staggering 13,650 catches were made during a 12-hour fundraiser at the Canterbury Academy.

Three pupils and director of sport Phil Relf took part in the Sport Relief catchathon on Friday, raising more than £500.

Mr Relf was joined by Kai Appleby, Jack Wheeler and Josh Weller, who set up a Just Giving page for the event.

They started at 8am, catching a variety of balls, including cricket, American football, golf and hockey balls, which were either hit or thrown by fellow pupils.

Mr Relf said: “It was a very long and cold day and the lads did really well to keep going.

“We had some amazing support from staff, students, families and other sporting organisations we work with at the school.

“It was great to be able to contribute to such an amazing cause.”
