Mike Ferrier led the way as Greenhill Sea Angling club held a fishing competitio­n for the Chairman’s Trophy on the beaches of Hythe on Saturday. Ferrier’s haul of 14 fish weighing 4.716kg (10lb 3oz) consisted of dogfish, dabs & whiting. In second place, also with 14 fish, was Raymond Phillips, although his catch weighed 2.854kg (6lb 2oz). Phillips did catch the heaviest fish of the competitio­n, a dogfish weighing 770 grams (1lb 6oz). Third place went to Martin Finch with eight fish weighing 1.672kg (3lb 6oz). The next Greenhill competitio­n is on April 2 on the beaches of Herne Bay, fishing from 6-11pm.
