Final one step too far for underdogs

Street End produced one of the upsets of the season in reaching the Dover Indoor Cricket League cup final.

The Canterbury side were beaten comfortabl­y in the final by league champions Betteshang­er A but in the semis had shocked favourites St Margaret’s.

Mark Parnell (32 not out) made his 11th 25 from 13 innings and was supported by Dale King (29 not out) as St Margaret’s made 117- 4. Jonner Duggan (1-29) was the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Street End kept up with the rate and despite losing four wickets, Tom Stewart (40 not out), Tom Williams (27) and Joe Goldbacher (30 not out) saw them home by two wickets.

Street End collapsed from 73-1 to 89 all out in the final with Stewart (27) and Tom Williams (22) top scoring.

Betteshang­er A knocked off the winning runs in the eighth over with all six wickets in hand.
