Who are all these ‘speeding’ drivers?

Kentish Gazette Canterbury & District - - Letters And Opinion -

Ex Lib-dem councillor Mike Sole says that Bridge residents (well the few he has spoken too!) want a 20mph limit, but who are these people ‘speeding’ through Bridge?

It is on a rural road to nowhere, other than other villages and scattered housing, who he claims, also want 20mph? Seems many are not being very honest. They might want 20mph past their house, but are not so keen when driving past/through somebody else’s house/village! Otherwise, where would all these ‘speeding’ drivers come from?

Drive these roads after dusk and you would be hard to find anybody walking about, but any speed limit is 24/7 x 365 days of the year. I suspect if questioned, it is not about speed, but the volume of traffic in many rural areas that residents feel is the real problem, but that is another issue.

Such is the hatred of cars and the freedom of movement it provides, the Lib-dems in their Green Transport Plan, are now talking about 10mph speed limits! Thankfully Ukip Cllr Brian Macdowall took a more common sense approach, realising that free flowing roads are essential for the movement of people and goods.
